When nature calls…we need a toilet. But an estimated 4.5 billion people worldwide live without a toilet or sewer system. This means human feces are not being captured or treated – contaminating the water and soil. On World Toilet Day, Nov. 19, and the week of Thanksgiving we are reminded to be thankful for our toilets, sewer system, and the people that work in the sewer system and wastewater treatment plants to help keep our community safe. Santa Margarita Water District captures and treats roughly 10 million gallons of wastewater every day.
