The Oso Creek Water Reclamation Plant is undergoing a multi-phase improvement project beginning March 7. The plant is located near La Paz Road and Oso Creek, tucked in behind the retail/automotive center on La Paz.
The plant was built in 1975. Not surprisingly, it needs upgrades and refurbishment not only to continue meeting water quality standards, but to help increase our local water supply. When the $33 million improvement is completed, the new, state-of-the-art treatment plant will do both--improve water quality and increase our sustainable, local water supply in the form of recycled water. It may also serve as a source for high-quality drinking water in years to come (100% of Mission Viejo’s drinking water is imported from hundreds of miles away).
The project will be complete next December. Learn more by visiting www.smwd.com/Oso.
