Work Notifications

Santa Margarita Water District invests millions of dollars annually to maintain and repair its infrastructure to help ensure reliable water services to its more than 200,000 residents. Here are a few of the current and planned projects happening in your neighborhood. Some projects have dedicated web pages with specifics and maps of the impacted area. Coto de Caza

  • Estado Reservoir Upgrade
    • September 11, 2023 - March 2024
    • Crews will work onsite Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 5 PM
    • Equipment running at night: dehumidifier equipment will run throughout the night Monday to Friday to help dry the interior of the tank and ensure proper conditions. 
    • Saturday work will be completed as needed 
    • Recoating the interior and exterior of Estado Reservoir
    • SMWD customers impacted by the work were mailed and emailed a notice. Residents of Dove Canyon were notified by Trabuco Canyon Water District.

Sacarama Pump Station

  • Monday - Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM
  • Construction traffic and noise
  • Impacted streets: Sacarama Lane, Aguacate Road, and Peppertree Bend

Don Juan Project - Andres Pico Road & Ysidora Street

  • Final road paving being done Oct. 17 & 18 
    • 8 AM to 4 PM 
    • Impacted Streets: 
      • Don Juan 
      • Ysidora
      • Andres Pico
    • Door hanger left to impacted customers 
    • The work will stager from the right side to the left side of the street to allow traffic to through
  • Original project dates: March 27-May 27, 2023 (extended to June 1, 2023) 
  • Pipeline and Pressure Zone Upgrades 

San Juan Capistrano Sewer Project

  • 2022-2023
  • Monday - Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM
  • Upgrading 8,128 feet of sewer pipelines
  • There are two methods to upgrade the pipelines based on the age, location, and condition of the pipeline: UV-cured in-place liner and dig and replace.
