Transparency

SMWD is dedicated to the proposition that our customers have a right to transparent government and easy to access information. We are proud that we have been awarded the District Transparency Certificate of Excellence by the Special District Leadership Foundation and recognized for meeting the highest standards for governmental transparency since 2013.

The Foundation looks to identify transparency through actions and evidence in such areas as current ethics training for all Board Members, compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, the conduct of regular financial audits, conflict of interest policy, information on the Board of Directors and how to interact with them, policy related to handling Public Records Act requests, and many others. We ensure that our compensation information is easy to find and that our customers understand the value of the services we provide.
