Santa Margarita Water District received the Engineering Achievement Award from the California Water Environment Association for Gobernadora Multipurpose Basin. The Basin comprises 35 acres in unicorpoted southern Orange County. It will capture, treat and deliver 350 to 750 acre feet of water (114 million to 224 million gallons) each year for outdoor irrigation use. This is the fourth urban water capture basin within the SMWD service area.
The District was also named a finaliist for the 2016 Clair A. Hill Award for the Gobernadora Multipurpose Basin.
