A Message from the General Manager

DanFerons

First and foremost, I want to assure you, our customers, that your drinking water is safe and reliable. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has no impact on the quality of your drinking water. Santa Margarita Water is also taking steps to ensure that service to our customers will continue uninterrupted so your drinking water is both available and plentiful.

All of Santa Margarita Water’s drinking water is imported from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.  It is treated to the highest regulatory standards and meets or exceeds all government requirements for quality and safety.  It does not contain any viruses or other pathogenic organisms. Additionally, all water is dosed with chlorine before entering the distribution system to ensure that it stays safe through our system to your home.

The District’s drinking water meets or exceeds all quality standards set by both the state and federal governments. Our water quality staff continuously monitor the water supply, conducting more than 20,000 laboratory tests each year on water taken from more than 100 sample points. We have a state-of-the-art and certified Water Quality Laboratory. The District’s commitment to innovation makes it one of the best-equipped water labs in Southern California. The results of these lab tests are published in the Annual Water Quality report (available at smwd.com).

You and your family can be assured that your water is clean, safe, and reliable.  If you have any questions, please contact us at CustomerCare@smwd.com or at (949) 459-6420.

Sincerely,

Dan Ferons
General Manager
